Finley RS Squash Club winter competition is starting soon and now is the time to sign up.
Squash is played every Monday night at the Finley RS Club, with local stars showing their skills each week.
The squash competition goes for two school terms, including a break for school holidays.
All ages are welcome and a grading night will be available for new players.
Finley squash coordinator Hayden Lunn said the sport provides great opportunities for new players.
‘‘Squash is great for fitness and hand-eye coordination,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s a lot fun for those that play every week and is a good social environment.’’
Finley RS Squash Club held their summer competition grand final recently.
All players fought hard to win with Team Two victorious over Team Seven 8-6.
Line four was the first match, with mother and son Rachel (Team Seven) and Josh Everingham (Team Two) doing battle.
Josh claimed the victory in the first game with his quick reflexes and agility.
The second game was much closer. Rachel just missed her chance however, with Josh claiming the overall win 3-0 for Team Two.
The next match was between line three players Marty Visscher (Team Two) and Daniel van Beek (Team Seven).
Daniel dominated in the first game before Marty played some of his tricky shots to win the second game.
Both took turns winning a game till the end with Daniel taking the win 3-2.
On the other court, team captains Hayden White (Team Two) and Warrick Steel (Team Seven) were prepared for a tough match.
Both seasoned players played strategically to complete a great match with Hayden showing off his ability winning 3-0.
Line two was the last match with Marty Visscher stepping up to fill in for Justin Mortlock against seasoned player Marcus Flanagan (Team Seven).
The match was a good experience for Marty as Marcus played tactically winning a quick match 3-0.
Registration night for the winter comp will be held next Wednesday from 6pm.
The first round will be played on Monday, May 7 with session one from 5.30pm until 7.30pm and session two from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.
