Finley’s A grade picked up their first win of the season, overcoming Congupna at Congupna on Saturday in Murray Netball League.

The Cats came out fast and strong in the first quarter with accurate shooting from Chelsea McDonald and Toni Campbell.

Tiarna Burke made her A grade debut and used her speed and athletic ability to have a tremendous game.

Final score, Finley 52 to Congupna 42. Awards - Renee Steward and Tiarna Burke.

Finley’s B grade also picked up their first win in a tight clash.

Ally Rourke was formidable in defence while Nicola Denny controlled the mid-court running all game providing options down the court.

Unfortunately B grade lost Holly Robinson to injury, however the younger girls who took the court proved they were up for the challenge .

Final score, Finley 40 to Congupna 35. Awards - Nicola Denny and Ally Rourke.

The Cats had a strong showing in C Reserve running away with a good win after a steady start.

Vanessa Geeves was great in WA with strong drives and Celene Jamieson played an amazing game in defence.

Final score, Finley 37 to Congupna 21. Awards - Vanessa Geeves and Celene Jamieson.

The Under 17s showed great improvement in their teamwork, court positioning and skills but were unable to come away with a win.

Sara Orro was fantastic with her talk on court all game combined with strong drives and Kezley Murphy-Riddell showed her versatility moving from WD to GA with ease.

Final score, Congupna 35 to Finley 19. Awards - Sara Orro and Kezley Murphy-Riddell.

The U15s Cats came out firing with crucial intercepts in defence and an onball attacking strategy to spark a win on Saturday.

Lucy-Jayne Burdon was a key player in WD and GK turning the ball over constantly and Piper Doyle worked the circle well, with accurate passing and shooting.

Final score, Finley 49 to Congupna 12. Awards - Piper Doyle and Lucy-Jayne Burdon.

The U13s Cats had a tremendous win over The Road.

Finley’s attack produced some high quality passages of play and were fed with great precision through the midcourt.

Finley’s defence was able to intercept and cause a number of opportunities for the attacks.

Sienna Burke shot with great accuracy and was ably assisted through the midcourt by Meg Marshall, while Jordan Gray was tight in defence.

Final score, Finley 32 to Congupna 2. Awards - Sienna Burke, Meg Marshall and Jordan Gray.
