McCullough wins Monthly Medal

Finley ladies

A small field contested the PA & JL Scott Electricians sponsored Monthly Medal stroke event last week.

Winner of the monthly medal was Glenda McCullough with 74 net.

Sharon Pyle was the scratch winner with 95, while also taking out the putting with 28 putts on countback.

Ball winners were Kim McCaw (77 net), Glennis Creek (77) and Tina Bell (78).

The recent Finley Motel sponsored Club Brooch event was won by Helen Wastle with 74 net.

Ball winners on the day were Anne Harding (77), Deborah Pyke (77), Sue Simpson (79), Sharon Pyle (79).

Putting was won by Glenda McCullough with 27.


Terry McMahon claimed the men’s Monthly Medal, scoring 67 net to also win Division Two on Sunday.

Division One gross winner was Ray Watmore 73, while John Crilly was grade winner with 69 net.

Division Two gross winner was Albert Adams on 84.

Graham Owen was the Division Three gross winner with 98 and grade winner was Leonard Redfern 73.

NTPs went to Ross Sidebottom 2nd, Carl Van Zeist 18th.

The ladies played in the Yellow Anti Cancer Day stableford event on Tuesday.

Petra Wilmot took out Division One with 35 points on countback from Sharon Pyle.

Division Two was won by Trish Frost on 32 followed by Janine Taylor 31 and Margaret Anderson was the Division Three winner with 36 on countback from Carmel Butcher.

NTPs went to Petra Wilmot 2nd, Julie Penny 8th, Jean Somerville Pro Pin $36.

Noel McKay took the win at men’s par gold with -2 on Wednesday.

The Blue Course saw 108 members play par with Division One going to Aaron Dale with +5, followed by Jason Buchanan +4.

Division Two went to Alan Herbet +4 with Peter Quirk runner-up +3.

Bruce Hadley was the Division Three winner with +4, runner-up went to Brian Rooney +3 and Division Four winner was Thomas Edwards -1 on countback from Danny Anderson.

NTPs went to Paul Olsen, Malcolm Hart 18th, Philip Tribolet Pro Pin $119.

There were 53 members playing stableford off the Blue Markers on Saturday, with Division One going to Brian Wilson on 37 points followed by John Schaeche 36.

Division Two was won by Fred Rossborough with 36 on countback from Stephen Grant.

John Clark took out Division Three with 37 followed by William Brady 32 and Lindsay Gilbee was the Gold Winner with 32.

NTPs went to Neil Bull 2nd, Colin Holdsworth 17th.

Ladies Division One went to Lynne Parry with 37 on countback from Jo Boake.

Division Two was won by Marlene Bailey on 36 followed by Carmel Butcher 35.

NTPs went to Elizabeth Muir 2nd.

SR Vets

The April Southern Riverina Veterans Golf Association competition round was held at the Jerilderie Sports Club with 94 golfers taking part on Monday.

Stableford was played and Ross Graham (Yarrawonga/Mulwala) with 38 points took the A grade trophy with Steve Humphries (Cobram/Barooga) on 36 points runner-up.

John Haigh (Yarrawonga/Mulwala) with 42 points took B grade, from Tom Wilton (Tocumwal) with 39. Simon Klaver (Cobram/Barooga) with 42 points took C grade and Peter Mansell also from Cobram/Barooga runner-up on 40.

A grade NTP went Peter Shand (Berrigan), B grade Ron Hayes (Tocumwal), C grade Jeff Thomson (Berrigan), All Grades Joe Borg.

The next SR Vets competition is scheduled to be held at Yarrawonga/ Mulwala on Monday, May 21.


Bill Judd with 40 stableford points collected the voucher, after countback, for the Men’s Wednedsday competition.

Judd also claimed NTP on the 18th. Balls went to Bob Makkinga (37), Barry Fahey (36) and Rand Wilson (36). The Matt Daniel Plumbing NAGA Trophy went to Jed Brain.

Barry Fahey was the first winner of the winter Thursday Nine Hole Competition with 20 stableford points and Rand Wilson took out the ball competition with 18.

On Saturday the Finley Pizza stableford event was played with Marty Piggin carding 43 points to claim the men’s trophy and Sue Simpson scoring 36 to take out the ladies event.

NTP was Doug Smith 18th and Jenni Corcoran 13th.

Balls went to Norm Pyle (41), Paul Pinnuck (38), Barry Fahey (38) and Jenni Corcoran (31).

Sunday was the Con Carr Betta Home Living stroke event and it was Paul Pinnuck with 70 net who picked up the men’s trophy and Enid Bain with 75 claimed the ladies.

Leo McNamara was NTP on the 18th and the putting competition went to Helen Wastle with 29 putts.

Ball winners were Grant Wilson (70), Sel Corcoran (71), Alan Hand (73) and Sue Simpson (76). Rick Harris was awarded the NAGA trophy.

This weekend is Monthly Medal on Saturday and stableford on Sunday.
